There is a legend about Aramu Muru, which tells that in the 16th century, when the Spaniards arrived at Tahuantinsuyo, an Inca priest named Aramu Muru (who belonged to the monastery or community of the seven rays) escaped from the conquerors and arrived at this portal carrying with him the so-called solar disk that until then was kept in the Qorikancha (The greatest temple dedicated to God Sun) of Cusco, an invaluable treasure with powerful healing abilities for the Incas. According to the story, the priests used this disc as a sort ofinterdimensional keywith which they managed to cross the stone wall and thus disappear from this world, taking this sacred object with them.

The locals say that Aramu Muru is the entrance to the “Temple of Illumination of the Meru Gods” or “Hayu Marca” which means city of the spirits, and they tell strange stories about this door, such as that some afternoons it becomes semi-transparent allowing a glimpse of an illuminated city.
